Strategy and Business Management

About Programme

Leverage data and analytics to optimize sourcing strategies, improve supplier decisions, and drive cost and value outcomes.

"In today’s rapidly changing and turbulent environment, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement have become critical functions for organizations striving to maintain competitive advantage. As global supply chains face disruptions, rising costs, and fluctuating demand, companies must adopt agile sourcing strategies prioritizing risk management and sustainability. AI and machine learning have added a new dimension to procurement analytics and the optimization of the use of digital tools. Effective procurement not only ensures access to quality materials and services but also fosters innovation through collaboration with suppliers. By aligning sourcing strategies with broader business objectives, organizations can enhance resilience, drive cost efficiencies, and adapt to shifting market dynamics, ultimately positioning themselves for long-term success. Expertise in this field will contribute to significantly improved outcomes. After all, procured spend, including goods and services, accounts for over 50% of the turnover of most companies. Hence, it is no surprise that procurement optimization directly impacts the bottom line. XLRI recognizes the need to develop trained resources in Strategic Sourcing and Procurement and offers a specially curated program to bridge the critical skill gap. This course is jointly developed by XLRI faculty across disciplines, as well as seasoned industry practitioners, to ensure the practicality and relevance of the topics taught. Objectives The program will draw on interdisciplinary perspectives to help participants understand the emerging trends and challenges in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, and Supply Chain, particularly after the massive shifts observed during the pandemic and the two ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. It is also pertinent to note that the Procurement function is often not the ultimate decision maker with respect to the choice of suppliers or definition of the specifications sought to be purchased. This makes the ability to present impactful analysis a key skill for the success of a procurement professional. The course will provide management competencies and essential analytical tools and skills to understand various critical areas in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement and Supply Chain. The course will also provide inputs on the roles and tools Sourcing professionals need to know to help their organizations tackle the ESG challenges and support net zero targets through leadership in Scope 3 management.
