This course focuses on helping participants build a film story that works on the page and translates to the screen. Key learning areas include: Identifying what makes an idea “cinematic” and choosing the right story to develop Writing strong loglines, concept notes, and synopses that clearly convey premise, stakes, and tone Building characters with goals, flaws, contradictions, and relationships that generate conflict Writing dialogue with subtext, voice, and authenticity Understanding screenplay fundamentals: format, scene design, visual writing, pacing, and conflict Developing a complete 3-act structure (with strong midpoint and climax design) Learning revision strategies: tightening, cutting flab, strengthening stakes and motivations Preparing pitch material: logline + synopsis/treatment + pitching approach and feedback
