About Programme

This full-time Master's degree programme offers an advanced understanding of economic and financial contexts. With its interdisciplinary approach to law and finance, the programme is designed to provide lawyers and those pursuing a career in financial institutions, government or business with a thorough grounding in finance.

We take an in-depth approach to the key ideas and research within these two fields of study. As a result, our graduates are exceptionally well qualified to address the challenges facing businesses, governments and regulators.

The MSc Law and Finance is taught jointly by the Faculty of Law and Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

Programme Content

You will take three core courses:

Financial economics
Finance
Economics of corporate transactions

These are supplemented by courses from the Law Faculty and Saïd Business School including:

Principles of financial regulation
Corporate finance law
Entrepreneurial finance project
Private equity and debt
Investing in private markets
Investing in public equity
Mergers, acquisitions and restructuring

There are also pre-sessional courses in maths and financial reporting.

Assessments are varied and may include timed examinations, group practical work, extended essays/coursework and dissertation.
