About Programme

Now Is the Time: A New Era Calls for Stronger Management Foundations

89% of professionals say it is the right time to upskill, an increase of 10% since 2022*. This reflects growing recognition that management roles are changing and require a broader set of skills. This program focuses on building the core capabilities new and emerging managers need to operate effectively in today’s evolving work environment.

Take this program alongside our Management 2: The Advanced Managers Course to earn a Masters Certificate in Management.

The Ultimate 5-Day Manager Bootcamp

Canada’s workplaces are experiencing a generational shift driven by new technologies, evolving employee expectations, and increasing demands for clarity and accountability at every level. As a result, frontline and mid-level managers are being asked to take on greater responsibility for communication, performance, and team effectiveness. Many, however, enter management roles without formal preparation.

This program supports new and developing managers in building practical management skills with confidence. Participants learn how to communicate clearly, build trust, coach and develop team members, delegate effectively, and manage performance. Designed for early-career managers, the program helps participants move from individual contributor to people manager with a stronger understanding of their role and impact within the organization.

Programme Content

Day 1: The New Manager Roadmap

This session addresses how different (and sometimes difficult) it is to shift from a specialist to a manager’s state of mind. Explore your level of readiness as well as the implications of that readiness for you, your team and your company.

Day 2: Performance Management

This session covers the main aspects of managing team and individual performance. Start by setting SMART goals for your team members and communicating, then move on to the key aspects of task and project delegation. Estimate the right level of delegation, enabling growth and giving and receiving feedback.

Day 3: Critical and Innovative Management

Gain the tools to be a creative and innovative manager who contributes to your organization’s growth and development. Dive into key critical thinking topics like data literacy and evidence-based decision-making. Finish the session by exploring creative self-awareness and brainstorming techniques.

Day 4: Organizational Strategy

A new manager should look at the big picture of their organization while still recognizing the smaller components that make the picture what it is. Gain the tools to analyze your environment and determine where your department goals fit into the organization’s overall strategy–the big picture. Finally, learn to identify where collaboration with other departments is needed and how to facilitate that collaboration.

Day 5: Financial Management

Strengthen your grasp of the key financial planning and reporting processes. Learn to maintain financial responsibility for the profitability and cost control of the business unit(s) you are responsible for. Tie up the program by mastering budgeting procedures for management success.

Programme Audience

This program is for new and aspiring managers without formal management training. Newly promoted managers can gain the confidence to excel in their new roles. Aspiring managers will build core managerial skills to win that promotion. And managers without formal training or who are seeking a refresher will re-establish management best practices that reinforce what has been working and modify what can be improved.
