Leading Diversity for Performance

HEC Paris

Leadership

About Programme

We live in an increasingly diverse and multicultural world – in the workplace and beyond. We interact with peers, subordinates, managers, and customers with very different backgrounds, opinions and experiences. When harnessed effectively, these differences can be the catalyst for creativity, collective intelligence and the pathway to team and organizational learning and effectiveness; but when misunderstood, these differences can generate hard conflicts, challenge people’s values, performance, workplace relationships, and ultimately the leader’s effectiveness in steering the organization. Using multidisciplinary research and theories, this program is designed to help leaders to enhance their awareness, navigate diverse organizational settings and individual and collective resistance to diversity, improve their ability to lead inclusive teams and get great performance outcomes.

Analyze the organizational and cultural dynamics of diverse teams (cross-cultural, multigenerational, gender) and develop a differentiated management approach tailored to each dimension.
Build situational agility as a leader: adapt communication and management styles, apply sound ethical judgment, and ensure fair treatment across all managerial practices.
Recognize the cognitive biases linked to diversity, uncover personal blind spots, reflect on their influence in team dynamics, negotiation, conflict management and decision-making and develop ethical leadership awareness.
Leverage political intelligence to navigate divergent perspectives: develop impact on diverse audiences and turn plurality of viewpoints into a driver of collective performance.
