The Chief Legal OfficerGeneral Counsel (CLO) plays a critical function in any company. CLOs provide legal advice to the management and undertake day to day legal operations, and importantly, they also represent the company in many capacities. The role of a CLO in a business is diverse and draws on a range of skills. With the growing importance of law in strategic decision making of a company and conduct of overall business environment, CLOs need to demonstrate leadership capability in both managerial and legal decision making. Sometimes these roles may also blur when acting as advisor to the management team and upholding organisational interests. This requires skillset that is adaptable to the needs of the company. Further, course will also attempt to explore the ways and means in transitioning from a legal role to a managerial role within the company.
