About Programme

Why attend the Generative AI Business Sprint?

Generative AI represents a significant progression in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Unlike traditional machine learning that worked predominantly with structured data, generative AI (Gen-AI) can generate unstructured outputs, such as images, text, and code. This ability aligns with the tasks of knowledge workers, offering potential to automate many business processes, enhance operational efficiency, and create new opportunities in the business landscape. Businesses need a clear and compelling Gen-AI strategy today if they want to be industry leaders tomorrow.

Inspired by Agile product development sprints, this self-directed course is an opportunity to explore and better understand the transformational power of generative AI. The course will provide answers to critical questions including:

What is Gen-AI and why is it relevant to your business?
How does Gen-AI work?
When should our business apply Gen-AI?
Where is Gen-AI heading?

The Generative AI for Business Sprint is conducted by world leading generative AI faculty from the MIT Sloan School of Management and the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing whose collective insights will enable you to use generative AI to create competitive advantage in your company.

Sprint Executive Summary

Programme Objective

What are Sprints from MIT Sloan Executive Education?

Sprints are six-hour courses you can complete any time over a 30-day period. This on-demand learning “box set” can be completed as an individual or as a team and spread out over a month to fit in with your personal and professional life.

You may be familiar with sprints as a term used in Agile product development, defined as a set duration of time during which specific work must be completed and made ready for review. With these new on-demand courses from MIT Sloan Executive Education, we are inviting you to think of your business sprint in a similarly, as a set time period in which to work, experiment, solve a challenge, and share your results.

When you participate in a business sprint, whether individually or in a team, you may also recognize research and development patterns from product development domains. We are translating these concepts into a business context where we can employ key elements of a sprint cycle to help solve complex business challenges and turn them into opportunities.

Your business sprint will begin by defining a sprint goal—the business challenge or opportunity you will break down, work on, and then reassemble in the four stages of our sprint relay. During these relays you will be provided with course content in the form of written content, videos, and podcasts that present the specific course frameworks and share examples of how these frameworks have been applied to solve real-world business challenges.

After you have completed the four stages in your course workbook, you'll submit your sprint review, which will capture the insights and the progress that you've made. As a final step, we'll provide you with a sprint retrospective in the form of an audio podcast that captures and reinforces the key inputs and outputs of an MIT Sloan business sprint.

Testimonials

"Great course and excellent experiences!"

Frances S

"Great materials (textual, visual and videos). Great learning"

Ahmad J

"This course provided the clearest explanation I've seen of generative AI, how it differs from other AI approaches, and, more importantly, how to apply it to create business value. What I appreciated most was that the focus wasn't on writing better prompts. It was on understanding where generative AI fits within an organization, how to evaluate opportunities, and how to think about governance, business strategy, and implementation. I used a real business initiative throughout the sprint instead of a hypothetical example, which made the concepts immediately applicable. If you're looking for a practical, business-focused introduction to generative AI from an executive perspective, I highly recommend this course."

Allen N

"This was a highly practical and well-structured executive course on generative AI. The program clearly explained what GenAI is, how it works, when it is most applicable, and how organizations should think about both its business value and its risks. I especially appreciated the focus on responsible implementation, human-in-the-loop decision-making, productivity gains, and the importance of aligning AI use cases with real business needs. The course helped me think more clearly about how generative AI can support digital transformation, operational intelligence, and enterprise decision-making. I would recommend it to business leaders who want a concise but meaningful framework for understanding and applying GenAI in their organizations."

"There was no hands-on. All of this was conceptual, which I could have read in an article. There was a broken link, and when I reported it, the response was that I needed to contact the professor. There were 5 professors, who had mini lectures within each relay. For the cost, I was deeply disappointed in the content and support."

Jessica D

"I found the The MIT Generative AI Business Sprint a high-octane strategic masterclass for leaders that drives you to create actionable roadmaps without the coding fluff. Its core strength is the Sprint Relay framework, which forces you to decompose business problems into modular AI solutions. You are taking lectures and turning them into an executable 30-day plan focused on pattern recognition to solve a specific organizational hurdle."

Paul L

"An insighful and highly interesting sprint. It provides a clear overview and understanding about how GenAI is designed, its applications for business and its implications for operational matters. Additional resources are highly valuable."

Julien S

"Great overview of the current state and key concepts. Exceptional faculty."

Noone J

"I loved every part of it! A short yet intensive program with very helpful information on Gen AI."

Israel S

"Excellent course with simple and clear information about different concepts of AI that helps understanding next step into the ai business applications"
