About Programme

Artificial Intelligence is becoming an important part of how students learn, create, communicate, research and solve problems. Young Learners already interact with AI through search engines, recommendation systems, digital assistants, learning platforms, image tools, video platforms and Generative AI. However, accessing an AI tool is different from knowing how to use it effectively, critically and responsibly. This Program is designed to build foundational AI literacy with practical skills for learning, creativity, innovation and future skills. Learners begin with the fundamentals of AI, including its evolution, the difference between Narrow AI and General AI, how AI learns from data and patterns, and the technologies behind AI applications. They also learn that AI has limitations and that AI-generated information may sometimes be incomplete, biased or inaccurate. The Program then introduces Prompt Design. Students learn how role, task, context, instructions, output format, audience, tone, examples and constraints influence AI responses. They explore frameworks such as R-T-C-O, G-C-I-O and C-R-E-A-T-E and practise improving prompts through refinement and follow-up prompts. Using NotebookLM, Young Learners work with trusted study material to organise information, summarise concepts, create revision notes and generate practice questions. Possible use cases include preparation for examinations such as JEE, NEET and others. Offline sessions focus on creation and application. Students explore AI image generation and learn how subject, style, composition and context influence visual outputs. They create posters, banners, invitations and presentation visuals. Learners also explore AI-assisted video and multimedia through storyboarding, scenes, narration, animation, voice and audio. AI Avatar Creation combines a character, voice and presentation to create explainers, announcements and storytelling content. The Program also includes AI-assisted presentation design and no-code website creation for school projects, portfolios, events and product ideas. The final stage focuses on Design Thinking and Innovation. Participants learn Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test and use the 5W1H framework to understand real-world problems and develop focused problem statements. They then create an AI-assisted concept or simple prototype and present their solution. Students are introduced to basic Python, including variables, input/output, conditions, lists and simple programming logic. Responsible AI use is integrated throughout the Program. Young Learners learn about hallucinations, misinformation, deepfakes, bias, privacy, copyright, academic integrity, information verification and safeguards for minors. The Program aims to develop AI literacy, creativity, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, digital skills, introductory coding and responsible AI use, helping participants become informed and confident users of emerging technologies.

Programme Benefits

HANDS ON FACILITY:
The Program emphasizes learning by doing, giving Young Learners practical exposure to AI tools using ChatGPT, Google Gemini, NotebookLM, Canva, Gamma, CapCut, InVideo AI and Python. ChatGPT and Google Gemini Young Learners create and refine prompts for explanations, study support, quizzes, brainstorming, projects, speeches, s and creative tasks. They also use AI for research, problem identification and idea generation. NotebookLM Young Learners use selected study material to organize information, identify key ideas, summarize concepts, prepare revision material, generate practice questions and support project research. AI Image, Video and Avatar Creation Young Learners create posters, banners, invitations, educational graphics and presentation visuals by refining visual prompts. They also explore storyboarding, animation, narration, voice and audio to create short multimedia content. AI avatars are used for explainers, announcements and storytelling. AI-Assisted Presentations Young Learners organize ideas, generate content, select suitable visuals and create structured presentations for school projects and activities. No-Code Website Creation Young Learners build a simple website for a project, portfolio, event or product idea while learning layout, content structure, visuals and user experience. Design Thinking and Innovation Young Learners identify real-world problems, apply the 5W1H framework, develop problem statements, generate solutions and create simple concepts or prototypes. Basic Python Young Learners practice variables, input/output, conditions, lists and basic logic and create a simple interactive program. Innovation Project and Showcase Young Learners work individually or in teams to solve a real-world problem, develop a solution, create a visual or prototype and present their final project. IIT Bombay Campus Immersion Offline sessions provide opportunities to learn and collaborate in the academic environment of IIT Bombay. Group activities, creative challenges and project work encourage experimentation, teamwork, communication and problem-solving. Some hands-on activities require internet access. Connectivity will be provided where possible, while participants may keep a mobile hotspot or alternative connection. The Program mainly uses accessible AI tools. Some advanced features may require paid Sub or account-specific access as per prevailing platform norms. Young Learners are guided to use AI responsibly, with emphasis on privacy, academic integrity, originality, verification of AI-generated information and safe digital behavior. By the end of the Program, Young Learners may have created structured prompts, study material, educational visuals, multimedia content, an AI avatar, a presentation, a simple website, basic Python code, an innovation prototype and a final project presentation. The objective is to help Young Learners use AI not merely for generating answers, but for learning, creating, communicating, coding, problem-solving and innovation.
