Digital Transformation in Healthcare

Digital technologies have transformed the society and businesses throughout the world. COVID-19 pandemic has become prescription for change and made digital technologies adoption much faster than expected. Healthcare industry has experienced largest number of innovations during COVID-19 pandemic. Large amount of data generation and digitalization has facilitated better decision making, effective care delivery and transformation of organisations. Healthcare industry contribute around 30% of the data generated at global level. Digital transformation has driven new thinking in customers, employees and partners and brought in significant market advantage. However, effective implementation of digital transformation has become a big challenge for almost every organisation due to lack of appropriate systems, processes, skills/capabilities, leadership, technology, change management and innovation culture.

Prof. S. Venkataramanaiah is a Professor of Operations Management at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. He has 32 years of experience gained from premier institutions and organisations from India, Singapore and USA. He worked as a SCM lead engineer at Honeywell labs Singapore. He was a Fulbright Visiting Lecturer at Arizona State University, USA during Fall 2009. He has published in reputed academic Journals like JHM, IJPR, JORS, PPC, IJPE etc and Conferences like INFORMS, POMS, DSI, ORSI etc. He authored ten book chapters and two books. He teaches Healthcare Operations Management to MBA students and IIM Lucknow and trained more than 700 MBA students in healthcare management. He is a certified professional in lean healthcare. His major areas of interest are modeling of manufacturing systems, productivity improvement, building competitiveness of SMEs, Cluster development, Lean manufacturing, healthcare management, supply chain management, digital transformation etc. He is also a half marathon runner.
