Why attend Developing and Managing a Successful Technology Strategy?
A great idea does not guarantee great profits. If a company's R&D dollars are going to pay off in profitable products or services, it needs a technology strategy that works in concert with its broader competitive strategy. From understanding how to respond to entry by entrepreneurial start-ups, to assessing the value of IP, to managing a portfolio of innovation projects, this course provides managers with actionable frameworks to craft a technology strategy that will enable their firm to create, capture, and deliver value.
This intensive course details a unique and powerful approach to integrating business and technology strategy and to developing profitable ventures and technologies. Participants are introduced to a set of tools to identify high-leverage projects, match product strategy to market dynamics, capture market value, and change organizational capabilities to reflect evolving markets and technological dynamics.

"This was my 8th course at MIT and its probably the one that's challenged my way of thinking the most. The course title is focused on technology strategy, but the true content was really applicable to large scale transformations. The instructors were engaging and were able to challenge my way of thinking. Further, the case studies and exercises were spot on - complementing the learning experience."
"I enjoyed this course immensely. The professors were both knowledgeable and entertaining and I found the case studies really interesting. I have already started working with my team to put some aspects of the frameworks we covered to use."
"This definitely is one of my favorite courses. The contents are very relevant to what I am doing - the frameworks that I learned certainly can help me put the strategic work in a more structured and methodological way. The energy in the "virtual" classroom was very high - it was inspiring to hear how the classmates approach the case studies from various perspectives."

Testimonials
"The topics addressed during the course were highly relevant to the challenges I am currently dealing with, particularly the case study on the company manufacturing wine harvesting equipment. I also found the S-curves and disruptive innovation frameworks to be very useful tools for thinking about technology and product development."
Dmitry F
"The curriculum is exceptional at deriving meaningful understanding from complex strategy and innovation use cases. Learning about the technology S-curve was a standout moment, offering a highly practical lens on how to prepare an organization for a transformational hop. The case studiesincluding a fascinating look into the wine industrywere incredibly engaging and even prompted me to do my own further research outside of class. The instruction was top-tier. Ezra was fantastic at presenting diverse use cases and preparing us directly for real-world examples. Pierres framework for reading between the lines was incredibly valuable, teaching us how to filter out the noise and focus entirely on the desired outcomes of a strategy. Lyndi did an amazing job keeping the content and materials meticulously organized. She is an extremely delightful person, and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations learning more about the local Boston area and various parts of the country. She made the entire experience seamless and welcoming."

"Course was good, but content needs to be updated with new case studies. Some things I review I say in university like 15 years ago"

Luis Felipe A
"An interesting persepective on Technology strategy - focuses more on high level frameworks of technology S-curves, interesting case examples of disruption and the importance of capturing value by protecting Technology innovation through Appropriability (Patents, Trademarks etc) and Complementary Assets. Could do with more on the process of creating value through Technology Innovation, other courses are probably better suited to that yet it's a difficult topic and the discussion groups are valuable to flesh out these learnings."
Matthew C
"Fantastic content and great faculty were the perfect combination for this course, I really enjoyed it."
Jeshua R
"A very practical course that leaves you with enough knowledge and frameworks to apply in real life scenarios. Both lecturers are spot on in framing the strategy and its implementation along with real case studies. The course is right to the point to deliver what is promised. This is the advantage and disadvantage in a way. While there is an attempt to rope in experience from the participants, the two days become too packed to get deeper interactions."
