Programme Overview Organizational excellence is a concept that goes beyond financial performance. Further, even when the financial perspective is included in assessing the performance of organizations, it envisages long-term sustained performance rather than short term gains. High-performance organisations pursue and achieve excellence from the perspective of all its stakeholders, including the community and larger society. The programme is designed to make participants aware of the need and possibilities of creating high performance organizations that meet the aspirations of all stakeholders, and not just shareholders/owners. After establishing the framework for addressing the needs and aspirations of all stakeholders, the programme focuses on the strategies that are required to achieve excellence from the perspective of employees and society.

Programme Objectives The purpose of the programme is to introduce participants to the latest concepts of organisational excellence and issues related to creating organisations that consistently achieve high performance. It emphasizes the need to transcend financial measures of performance and suggests more holistic performance frameworks such as balanced scorecard and managing for stakeholders, business awards such as Baldridge Award Model and EFQM Excellence Model, and organizational performance reporting methods as suggested in triple bottom line (or People, Planet, and Profit (PPP)) and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) approaches, and their adaptations in India.

The programme incorporates cutting edge concepts for leadership development that include creating high-performance teams by learning to manage self and others. It then suggests the best practices that should be adopted by any organisation that is truly aspiring to become a high-performance organisation. Participants are informed of the strategies and practices of exemplar organisations, from India and beyond, that are amenable for wider adoption to make the organisation an employer of choice, admired within its community, and acknowledged by the larger society as a great corporate citizen.

Programme Contents The topics include organisational effectiveness, structures and processes for excellence, organisational culture for excellence, corporate social responsibility, and corporate citizenship behaviour, coaching for excellence, building and leading high-performance teams, and decision making to support high performance. Participants will be encouraged to view themselves as leaders trying to reconcile and balance diverse demands of their organisation even as they embark on a long journey to excellence.

Programme Pedagogy The programme will be conducted using a combination of lectures, case analyses, exercises, and video-based discussions. The participants are expected to prepare for the class sessions and participate in the discussions to facilitate the learning process.

Who Should Attend The program is targeted at senior and middle management who perform or are expected to perform a general management role, rather than functional roles. Persons who have experienced the tensions of dealing with multiple demands are most likely to benefit from the program.
